Bed and Breakfast accommodation, at Ewich House, Tyndrum, Crianlarich, Scotland, UK - Map and Local Attractions

Ewich House is located in Strathfillan, 2 miles north of Crianlarich on the A82, find a map here. We are an hour from Oban, Stirling and Perth , just over an hour from Glasgow and 2 hours from Edinburgh .

There are railway stations at both Crianlarich and Tyndrum which offer some of the most beautiful train journeys in Scotland. The journey to Mallaig is particularly stunning and of course you get to travel over the famous Harry Potter bridge. If you fancy a day out in Glasgow then going by train is ideal. You are deposited slap bang in the middle of shopping (or sightseeing if you want a little culture) heaven where you can shop till you drop and then be returned back to Crianlarich in the early evening. Perfect!

The surrounding area has a wealth of attractions and activities on offer some of which are listed below. We are more than happy to suggest days out for you, and there is also an excellent Tourist information centre at Tyndrum with very friendly and informative staff (ask for Colin!)

A range of munro's within easy reach of the house including the Crianlarich hills, Ben Lawers range and the Bridge of Orchy hills to name but a few.

We are reliably informed by Barry (one of our very fit regular guests!) that there are several hills which offer great snow/ice climbing, weather permitting of course. These are Beinn Udlaidh (the gloomy hill) Northern corrie, Ben Lui (calf hill) Central gully, Beinn Achaladair (hill of the field by the hard water) and Beinn an Dothaidh (hill of scorching) NE corries, Beinn an Lochain (hill of the little loch) North face

  • Salmon and trout fishing
  • Pony trekking at Loch Tay
  • Variety of water sports on Loch Tay and Loch Earn
  • Skiing at Glencoe
  • Sea-fari adventures at Oban
  • Go ape!
  • Nevis sports at Fort William

There are loads of places to visit and explore including the atmospheric Glencoe, nearby Killin with it's famous falls of Dochart, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Inverawe Smokery and Country Park, sea life and seal sanctuaries at Oban and Inverary castle to name but a few! Oban is a major ferry terminal for the islands and also has many other attractions in the town itself.

Crianlarich and Tyndrum have excellent facilities that include pubs, general store and post office, cash machines, great taxi service (from Ian the taxi!), tourist information centre and not forgetting the famous Green Welly Stop at Tyndrum which has a restaurant, outdoor store, gift shops and petrol station. Plus get the best fish and chips at the award winning Real Food Café!

Finally and perhaps most importantly, there is the sheer pleasure of sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding hills and glens .
